Crossings was a series of live discussions by Christoforos Marinos with Greek artists about their artistic practice. The aim of these conversations was to give artists the opportunity to exchange views and to speak about their references and obsessions. In this way, the audience became familiar with their way of thinking, gaining a deeper understanding of their methodological approaches. The topics of the discussions emerged from the media and the issues with which the invited artists engage.

Chapter 1 | Discussion in Greek
Painting Isn’t Enough For Me
Participating artists: Apostolos Georgiou, Ilias Papailiakis, Eftichis Patsourakis, Mantalina Psoma

The first discussion took place with four established painters, focusing on questions concerning the necessity and sufficiency of the medium of painting.

Chapter 2 | Discussion in Greek
The uprising consists in looking at a rose
Participating artists: Konstantinos Hadjinikolaou, Karolina Krasouli, Vasilis Noulas, Nina Papakonstantinou

The theme of the second discussion concerned the relationship between the visual arts and literature. The artists who took part in the discussion were a director, a filmmaker, and two female artists who have worked on the visualization of literary material.

Chapter 3 | Discussion in Greek
Much can be said about soap / Soap has a lot to say
Participating artists: Anastasia Douka, Malvina Panagiotidi, Kostas Roussakis, Maria Tsangari, Paki Vlassopoulou

Prompted by Soap by Francis Ponge, in the third discussion the invited artists explored the “eloquence” of materials: wax, wood, clay, leather, ash… The artists spoke about what materials can tell us about their own existence and about the significance of matter in their work. In addition, they were invited to comment on the position of Giuliana Bruno: “Materiality is an archive of relationships and transformation.”

Chapter 4 | Discussion in Greek
The dream of wizards
Participating artists: Rena Papaspyrou

With Rena Papaspyrou as the guest, the fourth discussion focused on her artistic work, her references, and the artists who influenced her practice. Taking a retrospective view, her broader body of work was examined, forming a “House” through the architecture of materials.
