In parallel to the exhibition ...that creeps from the earth, TAVROS is organising a series of events, workshops, panels, screenings and readings as part of ...that creeps from the earth‘s public programme.
Saturday 3 February, 12:00-15:00 Erosive images: A workshop and gathering at ZOETROPE.
What is the environmental footprint of a photograph? In the frame of the current exhibition …that creeps from the earth, TAVROS and ZOETROPE present a workshop around sustainable photographic practices. The artist Susanne Kriemann and the curator Kyveli Mavrokrodopoulou will discuss various ways photography impacts the environment and how, in return, the environment is mediated through photography. For this occasion, we will develop photograms together through a caffenol developer.
University Amsterdam. Mavrokordopoulou is the scientific advisor of the first survey exhibition on the atomic age at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris (fall 2024). Her research explores nuclear aesthetics, the visual culture of extraction, and material histories of art and the environment.

Friday 1 March, 18:00 Guided tour of the exhibition by curator Kyveli Mavrokordopoulou.
Friday 1 March, 19:00 Panel discussion “Nuclear Futures”.
In cooperation with the Heinrich-Böll Stiftung Thessaloniki, TAVROS organises the panel discussion “Nuclear Futures: a topic that becomes topical again” around the issues raised by the exhibition on nuclear energy, bringing these questions into the context of contemporary Greece. In this open discussion, we will attempt to dialectically connect the multiple and diverse aspects of a form of energy about which we know very little. What is the debate on nuclear energy today? What is Greece’s historical relationship with nuclear energy and what we call the atomic age? How were communities eroded in the depths of history where uranium, the material foundation of nuclear technologies, was mined? These questions, and many more, will be answered by Professor of History of Science and Technology Maria Rentetzi, art historian Kyveli Mavrokordopoulou and the author of the book “Atomic Age” Achilles Hekimoglou. The discussion will be moderated by the journalist Thodoris Chondrogiannos. At the end of the event there will be time for questions and comments from the audience.
